After the station officer stated that he was intercepted, the defendant replied: "Are you a mistress?" Then he used his left and right hands to slap both sides of his face, a total of 8 times. He described the slapping effort as "Old Dou Jiaozai", not too heavy. The defense questioned that he had been beaten while standing, without self-defense. The station director said "heavy enough to withstand it" and added: "Why not be beaten, we must listen to a passenger." Magistrate Xiang Shuxian ruled that the evidence was established.

When questioned by the defense attorney Li Jianhua, he said that he had never been fought back for about 20 seconds during the slap. The defense questioned that he had failed to protect himself. Mo explained: "I think Zhong can stand it." And he did not say that the other party would immediately fight back when he was trained, depending on the situation.

The defense continued to point out that Mo was approaching the defendant. Mo Zhi told the police that he was beaten on the spot, and was sent to the hospital on the same day to ask for an examination, but he did not explain how often he slapped. He agreed with the written testimony admitted two days after the incident, only to mention the first 8 slaps. A casual police officer said in court that when he arrived, his colleague claimed that the MTR staff had been slapped four times.
