Registration is now possible, soon it will be all round again: This year Moosburg is participating in the "City Cycling" campaign for the tenth time. A competition is new this year.
Moosburg - Despite Corona, the city of Moosburg wants to take part in the nationwide "City Cycling" competition of the Climate Alliance again this year. Registrations for this are now possible. The city administration and the Federal Ministry of Health are convinced that "even in corona times, bicycles are the most sensible means of transport for the remaining inevitable routes", says a press release from the town hall. "Cycling strengthens the immune system, lowers blood pressure and trains the lung muscles."
Cycling will take place in the three weeks from June 21 to July 11. Everyone who lives in Moosburg, works there, goes to school or belongs to a Moosburg association can participate. Registration takes place at www.stadtradeln.de/moosburg.
A special year not only because of Corona
2020 is considered a very special year, because the campaign is being held in Moosburg for the tenth time. The number of cyclists, teams and kilometers driven has more than doubled since then. Another special feature in Moosburg is the social component. The donations of the participating cyclists and numerous Moosburg companies and shops have gone to the Asylum Helper Circle, the life aid institutions, the special needs day care center, Caritas and the “Benni & Co.” association.
Due to the current exceptional situation, the Moosburg stores were not asked for donations for the first time this year, the statement said. In order to maintain the idea of “cycling for a good cause”, the town hall plans to donate five cents per kilometer itself. "In this difficult time, the city would like to support the youth departments of the Moosburg sports clubs TSV, SGM and FC with the money they have cycled," explains Mayor Josef Dollinger.
New photo competition - cycling map and saddle protection available on June 25th
The usual kick-off event including the bicycle blessing must be canceled this year. "Nevertheless, all citizens are cordially invited to the big single trip, because every kilometer counts." As a further campaign, a photo competition is planned under the title "On the road by bike". A jury should select the three most original images from all submissions during the city cycling period. The winners will be announced after the summer vacation. The conditions of participation and suggestions for ideas can be viewed on the Stadtradel website.
A cycling map of the Freising district and useful bicycle saddle protection covers can be picked up at the Moosburg town hall on Thursday, June 25, between 4 p.m. and 5.30 p.m.
