Rent or buy? This was the question asked in the local council in Forst on the topic of hort containers.

Forstern - From rental to purchase contract: The municipality of Forstern buys the last part of the day care center that is known to be housed in containers. The reason: Villa Kunterbunt has to stay in the containers longer than planned.

As Rainer Streu (AWG) explained at the council meeting, there are delays in the construction of the children's home in Karlsdorf. "As of today, the children's home will not be finished before the end of 2021," said the mayor. Only then can the Villa Wirbelwind kindergarten move to Karlsdorf and make room for the after-school care center.

Martin Woisetschläger, who is responsible for the properties in the municipality, looked at the rental contracts for the after-school containers and consulted with the company renting them out. Accordingly, a monthly fee of 2770 euros would be due from July 1st. If the municipality buys the modules, there are net costs of 36,000 euros. “With the monthly rent mentioned, the purchase price would have paid for itself after around 16 months,” Streu calculated. However, the containers would have to be used for more than 16 months. The first part of the day care center already belongs to the community.

"In theory, you can continue to use the modules later," said Streu. He spoke of "tons of possible uses" and, among other things, brought it into use as a homeless shelter or as an office for the town hall. "Of course you need the right location, but I think there are many options."

"I would say: buy," said Josef Obermaier (CSU) briefly and briefly. Franz-Josef Obermaier (AWG) also pleaded for the purchase. “Even if the children's home will be finished in the fourth quarter of 2021, the Villa Wirbelwind kindergarten will have to move first, and there will certainly be conversions so that the daycare center can move in. It also takes a few months. That is no longer relevant, ”he said.

Anton Oskar (CSU) was amazed by the relatively low purchase price. He wanted to know whether there was a kind of TÜV or how this price came about. According to Streu, the company will have already calculated the necessary rental period that will pay off for them. With the sale to the community, it also saves dismantling and resale or disposal.

Thorsten Scharmatinat (Greens) wanted to know whether there was still scope for the € 36,000: "Can you still push the offer?" Streu wants to check whether renegotiations are possible. Otherwise, the committee unanimously instructed him to buy the container modules on July 1 at a price of 36,000 euros.
