+++ 17.08 PM: The funeral of George Floyd will take place on Tuesday (June 9th, 2020) at 11:00 AM local time in the church “The Fountain of Praise Church” in Houston. According to CNN, the funeral will also be shown in the live stream, via YouTube this is possible in Germany from 6 p.m. (CEST).

Only 500 visitors are admitted to the funeral of Floyd . Among them will be the Mayor of Houston. Actor Jamie Foxx is also expected. La'Torria Lemon, a spokeswoman for the funeral home, told CNN. Lemon also said that ex-boxing champion Floyd Mayweather will cover all funeral expenses .

The broadcaster also reports that various speeches are planned at George Floyd's funeral . As co-pastor Mia K. Wright said, there will also be various civil rights activists among the speakers.

The family lawyer, Benjamin Crump, said on Twitter that Biden had listened to the more than one-hour meeting on Monday and shared the suffering. This compassion "meant the world to the grieving family".

On CBS, former US Vice President Biden said it was difficult to grieve, especially in the public eye. Biden had previously said in speeches  that Floyd's death was a wake-up call for the United States. The 46-year-old African American was killed on May 25 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, by a white policeman who had pressed his knee on the neck of the handcuffed man for minutes. On Monday, thousands of people came to the Fountain of Praise church in Houston, Texas, to bid farewell to Floyd at the coffin, including Mayor Sylvester Turner and governor Greg Abbott. The action against Floyd was a "horrific case of police brutality," said the Republican politician.

However, he is accused of not clearly positioning himself against racism and of not showing enough understanding for the anger about discrimination and injustice in the country.

George Floyd died in a brutal arrest in Minneapolis, Minnesota on May 25. A white police officer had pressed his knee on the neck of Floyd lying on the floor for almost nine minutes - despite all requests from the 46-year-old to let him breathe. Floyd was arrested on suspicion of paying with a false $ 20 bill. Since his death, there have been major protests in the United States - and worldwide - against police violence, racism and discrimination.
