Opposition chairman tweeted that blue-white position on biennial budget is "amateur or irresponsible" • Likud wants to pass a one-year budget
Opposition Chairman MK Yair Lapid strongly attacked Benny Gantz and the "Blue and White" list, saying that their demand for a two-year budget during the Corona crisis was "amateurish or irresponsible."
Complying with the social network Twitter, Chairman Yesh Atid wrote: "A blue-and-white claim to a two-year budget in Corona's reality is either amateurism or irresponsibility. There is no way to plan two years ahead of budget under such extreme economic uncertainty. It will jam the necessary help to the self-employed and the unemployed only for small politics.
In his remarks, Lapid aligns with the Likud's intention to pass a state budget in the Knesset for 2020 only, due to the conditions of uncertainty created by the Corona crisis.
The reason for the "blue-and-white" opposition to passing a one-year budget is probably a political calculation that Netanyahu will be able to dissolve the Knesset with the vote on the budget in 2021, thus not having to pass the prime minister on to Bnei Gantz.
