Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced today that Canada will launch a mobile application to track the spread of the new Corona virus after infections reach more than 100,000 cases.
"We are working on developing a mobile application on the national level that will inform users if they are exposed to Coved 19," the French press agency quoted Trudeau as saying during his daily press conference.
Trudeau stressed that "personal information will not be collected and shared and will not use the GPS service ... the privacy of Canadians will be respected," noting that the Private Life Protection Commission was consulted.
Downloading this application will be voluntary, as this technology, developed through a partnership between Canadian Shopify and BlackBerry, will be available nationally in the coming weeks.
The announcement comes on the day when Canada exceeded 100,000 new infections with the Corona virus, according to official figures compiled by television channels.
The spread of the virus has slowed markedly for weeks across the country and most provinces have started exiting the stone after Canada recorded more than 8,300 deaths from the virus.
