Democratic Sen. Amy Clocher, who retired in March from the US presidential race, announced Friday (Friday) her retirement from the race for Joe Biden's vice presidential race. The message was passed on to the Democratic candidate the day before and raised the proposal to elect a non-white candidate for the post.

According to reports in the United States, the cause of retirement is likely related to the interracial tension that has swept the American nation in the month since George Floyd's killing in Minneapolis by a police officer. Biden has already made a commitment to choose a woman for the job and not a man. "I think this is the right moment to appoint a non-white woman for the job if we want to cure our nation. My party has a long way to go on the issue as well as the entire nation."

Biden, for his part, praised Clocher's move in a tweet on his Twitter account as he expressed her determination throughout and wrote, "With your help, we're going to beat Trump."

Amy - from the moment you announced you were running for president in a snowstorm, it wasn't hard to see you had the grit and determination to do anything you set your mind to. You know how to get things done. With your help, we're going to beat Donald Trump. https://t.co/4kquPZtSV9

Clover's chances of assuming the position diminished after Floyd's killing. Recall that she served as the district attorney for the Nipan District in which the city of Minneapolis resides and at that time more than 25 people, mostly minorities, died during police violence incidents.

The Minnesota senator, was one of the list of Democratic presidential candidates in the 2020 election and has worked primarily in the Middle East region and passed over 100 bills. She retired from the race and announced her support for Biden before the Super Tuesday in March, after finding it difficult to win support from black voters, who are a decisive force in Democratic victories.

Even before Floyd's death, Biden activists urged to consider and appoint a black woman to the post, saying this was what would help build a multi-racial coalition and motivate young voters to come out and choose the older candidate. On the other hand, there were those who urged Biden to choose a more progressive candidate, which could bring support from voters who supported candidates Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.

According to reports in the United States, Biden's Vice Presidential candidate list includes Sen. Warren, California State Sen. Camilla Harris and Susan Rice, who served as National Security Advisor to former President Barack Obama this evening.

Biden is scheduled to announce his decision regarding the final candidate on August 1.
