After a long period of downtime, the train finally returns to activity today. Company executives took a final tour yesterday to take a closer look at the preparations, especially the way of operating and absorbing passengers.

Israel Railways CEO Michael Meixner received a review of the preparations, saying: "We initially said we did not know how to control the amount of passengers and we were still in the testing phase. There are certainly a number of weaknesses in the system, but we are discovering and repairing it. " The key is that the public will heed the guidelines. "

As we reported, the train will return to full operation, with the exception of a few lines and stations and in accordance with the NSC and Ministry of Health guidelines. Among other things, with a limit of 500 passengers per train, which will be pre-registered for travel. Passengers will be required to wear a mask and will be banned from eating and drinking while traveling.

Offering positions will be placed outside the stations to help those who were unsuccessful or wrong. The call center of the train will also be increased to assist anyone with difficulty in issuing.

Regarding the return of certain lines, changes in traffic are expected due to the electrification work on the Ashkelon line and in the Sharon ring. Also, as of Wednesday, a new line will be operated with frequency of two trains at each hour during peak hours, between Kfar Saba (Nordau) and Herzliya, with stops at Hod Hasharon Sokolov, Raanana South and Raanana West. The line will be operated on weekdays between 6 am and 9 pm, and through Herzliya it is possible to reach Tel Aviv.

Also, on Wednesday and Friday the traffic on the Be'er Sheva-Rishon Lezion (Moshe Dayan) line will be operated between Be'er Sheva and Ashkelon only, and Ashdod to Yavne, Rishon Lezion and Holon Bat Yam stations will be closed. Ben Gurion Airport and Malcha Station in Jerusalem will remain closed.

On the train, they announced on Sunday that they had carried out signage and stand-up operations, appropriate announcements on the trains, placing hand sanitizers, recruiting 700 service providers and more. Railway officials, including divisional and deputy chiefs, will be deployed at several stations in the country to oversee the return to routine.
