Wind turbines are often supposed to contribute to the fight for the climate. In some countries, still given to fossil sources, this thesis may contain some truth. In France, on the contrary, wind turbines can only harm the climate, for four reasons.

On the one hand, wind energy, presented as clean and carbon-free, hardly deserves these praises. It is necessary to carry out important earthworks consuming oil, to pour enormous concrete bases (of the order, today, of 2500 tons), to obtain masts and blades in steel or aluminum. All of this emits a lot of CO2. This is all the more worrying since onshore wind turbines must be changed approximately every twenty years - including their bases, because the new ones are taller and heavier than the old ones.
