Bruno Le Maire: "There will probably be no sale of Aéroports de Paris before 2022"

2020-07-01T14:00:38.038Z

The Minister of the Economy assured that the privatization of Aéroports de Paris will not take place in the coming months, its selling price being at the lowest.

The government is not about to separate from ADP. Invited by Jean-Jacques Bourdin this Tuesday morning, the Minister of the Economy and Finance was questioned on the various proposals resulting from the Citizens' Convention convened by Emmanuel Macron, but also on the shutdown of the Fessenheim nuclear power plant (Haut -Rhin) and the privatization of Paris Aéroport (ADP). Bruno Le Maire has positioned himself as a defender of nuclear power, which " does not emit CO2 ", and assured that ADP would "probably not be sold before 2022".

Asked about the privatization of ADP Bruno Le Maire, considered that it was "not topical" . While this sale was included in the May 2019 Pacte law, a shared initiative referendum had ultimately delayed any implementation of the measure. And despite the relative failure of this referendum, which has nevertheless reached a high level of signatures, the sale will not be for tomorrow. "The sale of ADP will not be reflected in the immediate news ," said the minister. First of all because I am busy with something else. But also because when we see the activity of air transport, selling an asset when it is so low is not responsible, it is not the time. There will probably be no sale of ADP until 2022. ”

" On nuclear power, we are independent! "

Regarding the shutdown of the Fessenheim nuclear power plant last night, Bruno Le Maire repeated his attachment to nuclear power, which " preserves our environment ". "I am a defender of nuclear energy, which does not emit CO2, " he repeated. We are one of the countries that emits the least CO2 in the world, and above all we are independent. However, we are still too dependent [on nuclear power]. It is not reasonable to depend on it at 75%. This is why we will go from 75 to 50% by 2035. ”

Bruno Le Maire was then asked about various measures proposed in the framework of the Citizens' Convention. While the president had ruled out the possibility of limiting motorways to 110 km / h, Bruno Le Maire added that this limitation would have been "a very incidental and mediocre controversy in the face of an important moment for France to show that we can remain a great economic power while accelerating the ecological transition ”.

The Minister of the Economy then brushed aside the other proposal rejected by Emmanuel Macron, that of the 4% tax on dividends. "This measure would have been contrary to European law, and it would therefore have been necessary to reimburse this tax ," he continued. It is neither consistent nor effective. ”

Protect men first

Concerning the recognition of the crime of ecocide in the Constitution, Bruno Le Maire explained that he was " not favorable ". "We protect our planet to protect men and women, " he said. If we put nature above humanity it leads to historical disasters. [Ecology] is primarily for humans, rather than for nature itself. ”

Another subject discussed is the moratorium on the construction of large shopping centers in peripheral areas. "We lose about a department of agricultural land every ten years because of the extension of large shopping centers in disregard of agricultural land, " continued Bruno Le Maire. Can we not use brownfields or densify towns, rather than expanding them? ”
