France and Tunisia on Tuesday asked their UN Security Council partners to vote on a resolution calling for a cessation of hostilities to facilitate the fight against the pandemic, AFP learned from diplomatic sources.

The result of the vote, which is being done in writing due to the virtual work observed at the UN because of the virus, is expected on Wednesday. Negotiated for more than three months, blocked for a long time by China and the United States, the draft resolution aims to support a similar appeal by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, dated March 23.
