Tucumán Security Minister Claudio Maley defended "the police action" for the arrest of Walter Ceferino Nadal (43) , the man who finally died from suffocation during the operation of the security force personnel last Wednesday in the provincial capital, and considered that "the intervention was correct and timely."
In this way, the provincial official came to the crossroads of complaints from the victim's relatives and eyewitnesses who assured that Nadal had been the victim of a case of institutional abuse, for which there are still no detainees.
"The police intervention was correct and timely," said Maley, who added in statements to the press that "the Justice will determine the cause of death" and from that the situation of the policemen involved in the persecution that ended with the Nadal's death.
According to the official, the police officers have not been removed from office at the moment but are carrying out administrative tasks while the investigation progresses.
Meanwhile, the prosecutor in the case, Adriana Giannoni, requested new pathological studies to expand on the cause of Nadal's death, which had originally resulted in suffocation.
Judicial sources consulted by Télam indicated that the doubts are due to the fact that the body did not show signs of injuries caused by the alleged abuse of force in the actions of the police officers.
In addition, the witnesses who told what happened to journalistic media did not ratify their statements before the Justice, as revealed in the prosecutor's office in charge of Giannoni.
