Hollywood sexual harassment case: New York State Attorney General Letita James announced Wednesday (Wednesday) that a $ 19 million settlement agreement has been reached in two civil lawsuits filed against former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein for sex offenses committed by a number of women.

The lawyers for six of the years who filed complaints against the producer called the deal "addictive" in light of the fact that the agreement reached does not require Weinstein to take responsibility or pay the amount for complaining against him. On the other hand, it has been determined that the victims, who have been shown to sign confidentiality agreements with the producer or anyone on his behalf, have been released from them and can now tell their story without being exposed to libel claims or living in fear of revenge for their words.

As mentioned, the agreement was signed tonight but needs to be approved by a federal judge and the U.S. execution system and pertains to a civil lawsuit demanding compensation filed by the New York Attorney General's Office in 2018 against Weinstein, his production company and his brother Robert.

After all the harassment, threats, and discrimination, these survivors are finally receiving some semblance of justice.

I thank them for bravely sharing their stories.

James wrote in her Twitter account after signing that "after all the harassment, threats and discrimination they experienced, these women finally got some justice." Under the agreement, a compensation fund will be set up for the parties reached and will be transferred to "women who have experienced a hostile work environment, sexual harassment and gender discrimination while working for Weinstein, as well as those who experienced sexual abuse by Harvey Weinstein," according to the document.
