Nairo Quintana was struck by a car on Thursday while training for the Tour de France in central Colombia, the mayor of the city in which the accident occurred on Friday. The Colombian “beetle”, winner of the Giro in 2014 and the Tour of Spain in 2016, was struck by a driver “who was doing an incorrect maneuver,” said Mery Mozo, the mayor of Motavita (center).

The 30-year-old Colombian, who has climbed the Tour de France podium three times, had a promising start to the season with the French team Arkea-Samsic. He notably won the last stage of Paris-Nice last March, one of the last races before the end of the season due to the pandemic of new coronavirus.
