LE FIGARO. - The Élysée Palace accepted the resignation of Edouard Philippe and announced the appointment of a new Prime Minister. Is Emmanuel Macron's bet risky, since Édouard Philippe was reinforced in the ballot box by his re-election as mayor of Le Havre?
Jérôme FOURQUET. - In the latest Ifop-JDD barometer, the rating of Edouard Philippe stood at 50%, against 38% for that of Emmanuel Macron. The Prime Minister was also widely re-elected in Le Havre (with nearly 59% of the vote) when, at the same time, the LREM candidates bit the dust almost everywhere. In this context, it may seem surprising to part with a popular prime minister, who was an important asset in facing the economic and socially difficult period ahead. This major drawback of depriving yourself of a valued figure could have been offset by the appointment of a personality embodying a new political course with a profile carrying an ecological commitment
