The "Minato City National Security Law" was gazetted on the 30th of last month and was initially only available in Chinese. The English translation began three days after the incident was released last Friday (3rd), but the Chinese and English versions were found to have discrepancies.

Articles 9 and 10 of Chapter 2 of the Provisions respectively state that the Hong Kong Government shall strengthen publicity, guidance, supervision and management of "schools, social organizations, media, networks and other matters related to national security" medium. However, the English version of the two provisions is "schools, universities, social organizations, media, and networks", which has the word "universities" (university) more than the Chinese version.

The Secretary for Justice Zheng Ruohua said yesterday (4th) that the English translation of Minato City’s National Security Act was uploaded to the Gazette website. Since the law is a national law, Chinese will be the legal language, and the Chinese version shall prevail.
