Former Prime Minister since Friday, Edouard Philippe found his scarf as mayor of Le Havre (Seine-Maritime) this Sunday morning. He was re-elected without surprise at the municipal council after his large victory in the second round on June 28. He got 47 votes to 12 for his opponent Jean-Paul Lecoq.
The former Prime Minister was applauded at length. "Thank you very much to all of you," he said, once his mayor's scarf was put on.
Since his resignation from Matignon, Edouard Philippe appears happy and almost relieved to find his city after 3 years in Matignon. "If it happens very quickly it will be fine," he said a few days before the second round about his return to the mayor of Le Havre.
Many residents of Le Havre came to attend this council. Sanitary measure obliges, not everyone could enter the room, a giant screen had therefore been installed in the hall of the town hall. The elected officials were all masked within the hemicycle.
After having fulfilled several Le Havre obligations, the ex-Prime Minister has already announced that he would go on vacation.
