(CNN Spanish) - The Electoral Military Police of the Dominican Republic reported that at least one person died and two others were wounded in the middle of a shooting resulting from a discussion between political militants, during the general elections this Sunday.
The attack took place around 11:00 am (local time) outside the voting center set up at the Politecnico Nuestra Señora del Carmen, in the Ensanche Simón Bolívar, in Santo Domingo.

According to the preliminary report released on Twitter by the Central Electoral Board, witnesses said that two people were also wounded in the shooting, according to the head of the Electoral Military Police, General Carlos Aguirre.
The report adds that the attacker fled and is being sought by the Electoral Military Police.
More than seven and a half million Dominicans qualified to vote are called to the polls to elect their next president and members of Congress, in extraordinary elections organized in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
