The announcement took place in two stages. First at 7:15 p.m., when Secretary General Alexis Kohler from the steps of the Elysée Palace announced the name of Jean-Michel Blanquer, appointed head of a Ministry of National Education also including youth and Sports. Then, a few minutes later, the announcement became clear when the name of Roxana Maracineanu was mentioned as Minister Delegate for Sports.
Tandem
To build his government, Prime Minister Jean Castex chose to innovate by establishing a tandem composed of Jean-Michel Blanquer and Roxana Maracineanu, in charge of Sports. A duo that combines novelty and continuity since the two protagonists were already part of the previous government of Edouard Philippe. Blanquer and Maracineanu therefore both keep their posts.
In 2007, under the presidency of Nicolas Sarkozy, Prime Minister François Fillon had established a duet with Roselyne Bachelot at the Ministry of Health, Youth and Sports, and the Secretary of State for Sports, Rama Yade. We remember that the team had experienced difficulties in operating in harmony.

The idea of a ministry bringing together national education and sports had been raised for the first time under the chairmanship of Jacques Chirac. Appointed to the first government of Jean-Pierre Raffarin, the Minister of Sports Jean-François Lamour had raised the possibility of a National Education-Youth-Association-Sports association. Without being finally heard.
The First Council of Ministers of the new government formed by Jean Castex will take place this Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at the Palais de l'Elysée.
