The Hong Kong version of the National Security Law came into effect at the end of last month. At the request of members of the Democratic Legislative Council, the Chairman of the Legislative Council, Liang Junyan, invited the Chief Executive, Lin Zhengyue, to come to the Legislative Council to accept questions about the National Security Law, but there was no response. Democrats signed a letter to Lin Zheng Yuee today (6th), asking her to go to the Legislative Council again to explain the National Security Law of the port area and accept questions about the implementation details.

According to a letter signed by 22 democratic legislators, the National Security Law has been published and has been in effect for nearly a week, and the Legislative Council tomorrow arranged a joint meeting to discuss the National Security Law. Democrats allege that Lin Zheng did not respond to their earlier invitation, criticizing her for lacking due respect for the Legislative Council.

Democrats said that the impact of the National Security Law affects all government departments, and the chief executive and chairman of the Minato District National Security Committee has repeatedly stated that he will try his best to explain to the society after the promulgation of the National Security Law. He should be the only public constitutional institution in Hong Kong. The Legislative Council explained that the Basic Law requires the chief executive to be accountable to the Legislative Council and is a constitutional requirement. The Democrats requested Lin Zheng to attend special question-and-answer sessions in accordance with Article 8 of the Rules of Procedure, and report and respond to inquiries to members urgently, especially for the implementation of the new laws and policies of various bureaux and departments.

The letter also stated that ten people have been arrested the day after the Hong Kong version of the National Security Law came into effect. The community has divergent opinions on the "restricted area red line" of the new law, describing "authorities" as being indifferent to many issues, and "what is illegal" is still the focus of public opinion. Democrats said that the new law must be "understandable" and "foreseeable", with objective and consistent criteria, and emphasized that if the general public cannot clearly grasp it, it will violate the original legislative intent.
