The "Hong Kong version of the National Security Law" was implemented. The SAR Government established the National Security Committee on the 3rd of this month, with the Chief Executive Lin Zhengyue as the chairman. The National Security Committee held its first meeting today (6th). All members attended the national security designated by the central government. Luo Huining, the affairs adviser and director of the Liaison Office also attended the meeting.

The "Hong Kong version of the National Security Law" was implemented. The SAR Government established the National Security Committee on the 3rd of this month, with the Chief Executive Lin Zhengyue as the chairman. The National Security Committee held its first meeting today (6th). All members attended the national security designated by the central government. Luo Huining, the affairs adviser and director of the Liaison Office also attended the meeting.

The National Security Council is chaired by the Chief Executive Lin Zhengyue. The members include the Chief Secretary for Administration Zhang Jianzong, the Financial Secretary Chen Maobo, the Secretary of Justice Zheng Ruohua, the Director of the Security Bureau Li Jiachao, the Director of the Police Department Deng Bingqiang, the Deputy Director of the Police Department (National Security) Liu Cihui, Director of the Immigration Department Jiahong Hong, Customs Commissioner Deng Yihai and Director of the Chief Executive's Office Chen Guoji. Chen Guoji also served as Secretary General of the National Security Committee.

According to Article 15 of the "National Security Law", the National Security Commission has established a national security adviser to provide advice on matters related to the National Security Commission's performance of its duties to maintain national security, and will attend the National Security Council meeting. The State Council had earlier decided to appoint Luo Huining, director of the Liaison Office of China, as the national security adviser.

According to Article 14 of the National Security Law, the duties of the National Security Council are: (1) To analyze and judge the situation of safeguarding the national security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, to plan relevant work, to formulate the policy of safeguarding the national security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region; (2) to promote the maintenance of the country by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Construction of a safe legal system and enforcement mechanism; (3) Coordinate the key work and major actions of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to maintain national security. Article 14 of the National Security Law also clearly stipulates that the work of the National Security Council shall not be interfered by any other agencies, organizations and individuals in the Special Administrative Region, the work information shall not be disclosed, and the decisions made shall not be subject to judicial review.
