A spokesperson for the overseas version of TikTok, the app for Douyin, China Mobile's mobile phone app, told Reuters on July 6 that the company will withdraw from the Hong Kong market within a few days.
Responding to Reuters inquiries, the spokesperson stated that the company decided to suspend TikTok's operations in Hong Kong in view of recent incidents. The company has stated that user data is not stored in China. The company is currently headed by former May Disney executive Kevin Mayer.

Facebook and its WhatsApp issued a statement saying that it suspended processing of the Hong Kong government's request for user information, waiting for further evaluation of the impact of the implementation of the "Minato City National Security Law."
