A famous Algerian blogger, Amir.dz, was arrested on Monday in France, in execution of an extradition request issued by his country, and placed under judicial supervision pending the continuation of the procedure, learned the AFP Tuesday from judicial sources.

This extradition request was notified to him on Tuesday. The hearing which will examine it must take place on September 23, at the instruction chamber of the Paris Court of Appeal.
The Algerian authorities' request brings together seven arrest warrants for convictions. Algeria is demanding this man in particular to execute a three-year prison sentence imposed at the end of 2018 against him for “ extortion ”, “ blackmail ” and “ defamation through social networks ”.
Followed by some 550,000 internet users on Youtube and with 665,000 subscribers to its Facebook page, Amir.dz, 37, was accused of blackmail targeting Algerian figures, including Anis Rahmani, CEO of the media group Ennahar, now in prison.
