State of emergency in Atlanta for violence and shootings

After weeks of escalating violence in Atlanta, one of the largest cities in the United States, the Governor of Georgia declared a state of emergency in the city, allowing the National Guard to help protect parts of the state capital. On the holiday weekend of July 4 alone, at least 30 people in the state suffered gunshot wounds.
