How the Copa Libertadores and Sudamericana 2020 will be played: the entire calendar, with the finals in January

The day came when Conmebol made official the schedule for the return of soccer in South America. With the approval of the health protocols and the consent of the national governments, after a virtual meeting, the dates for the Copa Libertadores and the Copa Sudamericana were stipulated, with the peculiarity that both finals will be in January 2021 .

Libertadores will begin on Tuesday, September 15 , with the third date of the group stage, which will be completed during that week. While the following two weeks the fourth and fifth days will be played.

As the moment of the return of the FIFA dates will come later, the week of October 19 will be the decisive one for the tournament groups that play Boca, River, Racing, Defense and Justice and Tigre.

On Saturday, October 24, the round of 16 crosses will be raffled, for which there will be a month to prepare, since the round-trip matches will be held the weeks of November 23 and 30. The quarterfinals will be held during the weeks of December 7 and 14.

Rest will come for the Holidays, but the semifinalists will not be able to rest on their laurels, because the beginning of 2021 will find them playing right away. Is that the first leg will be the week of January 4 and the return, the week of 11.

And the only final? Well, it is known that it will be in the Maracana, but the Conmebol has not yet stipulated the date. There are three attempts: Saturday January 23, Sunday 24 or Saturday 30.

The South American Cup

On Saturday, October 24, the draw will be made to know the crossings of the second phase, in round-trip matches, which will take place during the weeks of October 26 and November 2.

Of the 16 duels, those classified will go to the round of 16, which will be played during the weeks of November 23 and 30. And the quarterfinals, such as the Libertadores, will be in the weeks of December 7 and 14. The same will happen with the semifinals, in the weeks of January 4 and 11, 2021.

For the unique final at the Kempes stadium in Córdoba, Conmebol has not yet stipulated the date. The three attempts are the same as for the Liberators: Saturday, January 23, Sunday, 24 or Saturday, 30.
