A group of 83 millionaires is calling for more tax on the world's wealthy "immediately" and "permanently" to help recover from the coronavirus pandemic. "As the Covid-19 hits the world, millionaires like us have an essential role to play in healing the world," they say, before a meeting of G20 finance ministers this week.

Among the signatories, mainly American (and none French), we find the co-founder of the ice cream giant Ben & Jerry's, the heirs of the Disney family or the British director Richard Curtis. The economic crisis could push half a billion humans into poverty, not counting hundreds of millions of unemployed people, they argue. “Unlike tens of millions of people around the world, we don't have to worry about losing our jobs, our homes or our ability to support our families. We are not fighting on the frontline of this health emergency and we are much less likely to be victims of it, ” continues their open letter.
