Fabio Quartararo took pole position on Saturday at the Spanish GP, the first race in the MotoGP world championship, ahead of the Spaniard Maverick Vinales and setting a new lap record for the Jerez circuit. The young Frenchman (Yamaha-SRT) controlled this session despite the strong heat and the many falls that punctuated the last laps, including those of Alex Rins (Suzuki) and Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati). Six-time Spanish world champion Marc Marquez (Honda) took 3rd place.
Seeking his first Moto GP victory
“I didn't feel like it was a perfect lap because I made a mistake. I saw that someone had fallen on the 11th corner so I was a little careful, "said Quartararo. The 21-year-old Frenchman is brilliantly entering his second season in MotoGP after being the revelation of the championship last year. However, he has not yet won a Grand Prix in the MotoGP category. The other Frenchman on the set, Johann Zarco. (Reale Avintia Racing) will start much further than its compatriot, in 20th place.
