The nap, the benefits of which we know in our daily lives, also saves lives on the road. This is revealed by an unprecedented study conducted by chronobiologist Damien Davenne, also a professor at the University of Caen.
Commissioned and funded by the Vinci Autoroute foundation, this research work reveals that 10 to 20 minutes of nap after lunch allow a marked improvement in alertness while driving. “Between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., all the studies reveal that there is a peak in accidents. This is due to our biological clock which programs a drop in vigilance to precisely allow us to take a nap ”, explains this specialist, who also heads a research unit dedicated to mobility.
