A gendarme suspected of having killed his 45-year-old companion on Thursday evening in the gendarmerie barracks of Bailleul (North) and who had then turned the weapon against him succumbed to his injuries, we learned, this Monday 20 July, with the Dunkirk prosecutor's office.

The 40-year-old man, who was " very seriously injured ", died on Saturday at the CHR in Lille, Dunkirk prosecutor Sébastien Pive told AFP, confirming information from La Voix du Nord . " Investigations are continuing to determine all the circumstances of this tragedy, " he added.
According to a police source, this drama took place " against a background of separation ". In 2019, AFP identified at least 126 cases of women killed by their partner or ex, or a woman killed every three days on average.
