At 3 o'clock this afternoon, the Regional Crime Squad of the Western District, together with the Tactical Unit and the Hong Kong Island Regional Crime Prevention Office, arrived at the Cyberport Waterfront Park to conduct investigations, distribute leaflets and search evidence. The Chief Criminal Inspector of the Western District Police, Hou Liwen, said that the police received reports from the public for 3 consecutive days from July 12 to 14, stating that the dogs felt unwell after they let the dogs go home in the morning at Bessa Wan Road, Victoria Road, Pokfulam. Later, he was suspected of being poisoned and died, and now 3 dogs have died. The police patrolled the area where the incident occurred today to investigate whether suspicious bait still exists, conduct laboratory tests on the dogs, and distribute leaflets to those present.

The police said that pet food suspected to be related to the case was seized during the operation. The case included cruel treatment of animals. No one has been arrested yet. Relevant dogs will be handed over to relevant institutions for further testing.

The police emphasized that they will not tolerate any cruelty to animals and will follow up every case seriously and actively. According to Article 3 of the Prevention of Cruel Treatment of Animals Ordinance, Chapter 169 of Hong Kong Law, the maximum penalty for cruel treatment of animals is a fine of 200,000 yuan and imprisonment for 3 years.
