They tell him "El Mamu" is 15 years old and from the age of 13 he is considered " the devil in person " for the Bonaerense policemen in the western area of the Conurbano who have seen him enter and leave the police station without being able to do anything because he was a minor. . Until now: he has a legal guardian and sleeps in a juvenile institute in La Plata.

To “El Pachu” , César Alberto Ballestero (27) and with a stay in jail in 2012 and a current arrest warrant , when they went to look for him at his home in the Villa Carlos Gardel in early June, he had already gone crazy .

He was detained only this past weekend, when the Gendarmerie started chasing him through the corridors after hearing gunshots inside the settlement. They found him in a neighboring house, hidden behind a metegol .

What do “El Mamu” and “El Pachu” have in common ? Both are members of the gang that assaulted and beat journalist Ignacio González Prieto 52 days ago in Caseros, when he was leaving to buy pasta and was about to get into his car.

"I swear I thought they wanted to kidnap me , that's why I defended myself when I shouldn't have," he says to Clarín .

Gonzalez Prieto defended himself from robbery to blows, until from behind “El Mamu” gave him a butt with a .9 mm caliber pistol: “I heard him say: ' This fucking guy will be killed…'. I am alive by a miracle ”.

“I began to understand the process of a victim: you go to court and the official defenders treat you very badly. And you have to be on top of everything, with a very active role. Whoever doesn't know how this works, they eat it raw, ”explained the TN journalist.

González Prieto has since lived in custody at his home, threatened by relatives of one of the suspects. Of the gang that assaulted him, they first arrested two of the four, one 22 and the other 17 . And finally, in these last nine days, "El Mamu" and "El Pachu" fell .

The arrest of "El Mamu" , the boy of 15, occurred on July 13 last, when he was on tour with another bandit: first they stole a car in El Palomar and then a truck in Villa Sarmiento, the sources explained.

"El Mamu" is 15 years old and fell in a Caseros holding (left). "El Pachu" was detained by the Gendarmerie hidden behind a metegol (right).

When they met the police at Caseros, 3,500 of one of the accomplices took refuge in the General Hornos house: they call him Nahuel and they let him out of prison in the context of the coronavirus pandemic.

As soon as Nahuel stepped on the street, and in complicity with "El Mamu", they threw the mother of the convict released from General Hornos' house at 3500, in Caseros, and turned her into a holding point : the police seized them there.

The prosecutor of the juvenile criminal jurisdiction of San Martín, Verónica Novoa, sent him to a juvenile institute in La Plata under judicial custody.

Of course, when they caught “El Mamu” and Nahuel they were not alone: there were six in total. "And the information about the house where they were hiding was provided by the mother of one of the detainees, " the sources detailed.

To understand who "El Mamu" is and why the police were tired of him doing what he wanted without being able to stop him because he was a minor, he reaches an anecdote.

The one that best defines him tells that one night, one who gave him money from the sale of a stolen truck, sent him to a kiosk to buy champagne . It was an excuse.

"El Mamu" is 15 years old and is now in a junior high school.

In the business there was another one sent by “El Mamu” willing to comply with the order: he shot him dead .

The story of "El Pachu" tells that he was born on September 13, 1992 and has a 2012 cause for robbery aggravated by the use of weapons .

"In addition, a capture request in force at the request of Judge N ° 5 of judge Nicolás Schiavo," the sources said.

After participating in the robbery of the TN journalist at the end of May - he was the one who drove the car stolen from González Prieto - the police raided his house at block 9, access 30, in the town of Carlos Gardel de Morón.

"They found him the sneakers, the jean, the inflatable jacket and the white cap with black visor and the symbol of (Michael) Jordan that you see in the robbery video, but he had already escaped, " said González Prieto.

However, in the early hours of July 20, the gendarmes guarding the Carlos Gardel village heard gunshots through the corridors .

"El Pachu" had a current arrest warrant for a robbery.

According to sources, as soon as they saw a man 1.75 meters tall they gave him the voice to stop, but he ignored and started to run. There the persecution by the neighborhood began.

According to the police, "El Pachu" first wanted to hide in a house but could not. Then, he went from prepo to another property. There, he discarded the .9 millimeter caliber Bersa pistol , and then found it in the back: "It was hidden inside a construction site, behind a table of foil ."

How the cause continues

The four accused of the violent assault on González Prieto are detained for the crime of " aggravated robbery in the town and gang, for the use of firearms and for the participation of minors."

The TN journalist participated in several recognition wheels. And he said: "The gang operated in the area of Ramos, Morón, Villa Luzuriaga, Caseros, San Martín, Haedo and they suspect that they committed more than 15 robberies, all by armed force ."

What was the modus operandi ? González Prieto tells it: “They lifted up in the air , when they caught you on the street or arrived at your house. They stole your car and crossed the game. There, they left the stolen car cooling and took another from another victim, and so on. The stolen cars that had no tracking system, then sold them. "

The truth is that the journalist, these days lives with a patrolman who is permanently at the door of his house and tries to take many more protective measures.

The weapon that "El Pachu" discarded before he was caught.

"All I want is to protect my family . I did not go out at night in the car or to go shopping and I know that I was very lucky that the chief of police in the area lives nearby. ”
