Iranian authorities announced Tuesday that they had recorded 229 deaths linked to the new coronavirus in the past 24 hours, a record figure since the epidemic began in mid-February in Iran, the country most affected in the Middle East.

" We have lost 229 of our compatriots due to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours ", said the spokesperson of the Ministry of Health Sima Sadat Lari during her daily press briefing, which brings the record of the pandemic in Iran to 14,634 deaths.
