The nomination period for the Legislative Council election has begun. The Civic Party, Guo Rongkeng, who was named and bombarded by the "Two Offices" due to the internal conflict, signed up for re-election to the legal profession and signed a confirmation letter on Monday (20th). Under the haze of "DQ", Guo Rongkeng had previously found a candidate for "Plan B", but he did not disclose the candidate, only saying that "Plan B" is not considered at this stage.

It is reported that Guo Rongkeng’s backup candidate is Chen Jingsheng, the former chairman of the Bar Association and Senior Counsel. If Guo Rongkeng is disqualified from running for the election, this powerful star in the legal world will be ordered to fight in danger.

Chen Jingsheng was the first graduate of the Faculty of Law of the University of Hong Kong (1972). He later obtained a master’s degree in laws from the University of London. He was admitted as a British Barrister in 1974, and then a Hong Kong Barrister the following year. He was promoted to Queen’s Counsel in 1989 (now known as Senior Lawyer), currently ranked fifth in the Senior Counsel's roster, second only to Martin Lee, Qinghong, etc., and ranked 11th higher than classmates of the University of Hong Kong and current guild member Tang Jiahua.

Chen Jingsheng, who is known as the "Feng Shui Great Zhuang" and specializes in civil cases, has a fine art of ventilation and water skills. He once represented businessman Chen Zhencong in the case of Gong Ruxin's 100 billion estate. Chen Jingsheng's image of defending human rights and freedom is equally clear. In 2003, the Hong Kong government enacted Article 23 of the Basic Law. Chen Jingsheng, then chairman of the Bar Association, stood at the forefront and asked the government to conduct consultations in the form of a "white draft". Later, the government was even more severely criticized for insisting on hasty legislation such as "rape public opinion."

In the "fugitive offenders Ordinance" turmoil last year, Chen Jingsheng, a member of the legal profession, criticized the government for refusing to withdraw the amendments as "unwise" and criticized the Chief Executive Carrie Lam for failing to protect the interests of Hong Kong people. Before the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress passed the "Hong Kong version of the National Security Law" last month, Chen Jingsheng criticized the practice as contrary to the requirement of Article 23 of the Basic Law that the SAR government should "self-enact laws" on national security issues. Guo Rongkeng, who has served as a member of the legal profession for two terms, has presided over the election of the chairman of the Legislative Council. Even if Guo Rongkeng is rejected, the replacement candidate still has a good chance of winning. If the heavyweight Chen Jingsheng "goes down to the sea", it can be said to be a good one. "Hong Kong 01" once asked Chen Jingsheng, his office said it would not respond.

As for the establishment, the little-known member of the Law Society, Wen Liming, was sent in the last election. The result was lost by nearly 2,000 votes. There is news that the establishment is lobbying a well-known barrister to fight, and the person has issued support from time to time. The government's speech is no stranger to the outside world. Lawyers with organizational background bluntly said that the legal profession is in the pocket of the democrats, and few people are willing to fight a battle with no chance of winning, so finding candidates is not easy.
