The matter is taken very seriously by the police. Elected officials of Mantes-la-Jolie have been recipients, at the town hall, of a letter of threats in recent days. A complaint was filed discreetly at the Mantes-la-Jolie police station.
The letter implicates the mayor Raphaël Cognet (LR), his first deputy Sidi El Haimer as well as the president (LR) of the departmental council Pierre Bedier, also municipal councilor of Mantes-la-Jolie. "Death threat against mr bedier, mr cognet raphael mr sidi el haimer […] I will all turn off, be on your guard" writes the author of this letter which is hidden behind the signature "The man of the 'shadow BRB'.
These few words are accompanied by a bullet, which prompted the town hall to take the matter very seriously.
In March, the car of the 1st deputy was set on fire
In addition to elected officials, several residents of the Val-Fourré district, suspected of being close to the personalities targeted, are cited. Journalist Aboubakry N'Diaye, founder of the local news site mantes-actu.net, is also the victim of these threats.
This case arises in a delicate context: the campaign for the last municipal elections was quite tense and on social networks, these elected officials of Mantes-la-Jolie, who arouse as much adulation as hatred, were the target of many reviews. Sidi El-Haimer's car was even set on fire last March, near his home in Mantes-la-Jolie. "I regularly receive anonymous letters, but given the content of this letter, I decided to file a complaint" indicates Raphaël Cognet, who did not wish to express himself further.
Contacted, the Mantes-la-Jolie police station did not wish to provide details.
