Within hours of the first month of Ceferino Nadal's death (43), Clarín had access to two new photos of the time of his arrest, in the heart of San Miguel de Tucumán. Both are included in the case file, which so far continues to be labeled as “doubtful death” and has no accused police.

In the first, he is shown handcuffed, reduced and on the floor, face down. While a bicipolicía rests his hands on Nadal's back, another officer, in uniform and with his back to the person who took the photo, locks his left knee (with all his weight) between the victim's neck and nape.

The image closely resembles that of the American George Floyd, where a Minneapolis agent knelt on his neck for eight minutes and smothered him to death, after having arrested him. The case sparked worldwide protests and a move against racism.

In the second, a bicipolicía supports his right knee at the height of the spine. In both photos, he appears surrounded by officers. Ceferino Nadal would die minutes later. During the procedure he had shouted: " I am short of breath ."

"Probably the cause suffered in life the violent understanding of the neck, which caused the normal interruption of air to the airway, and blood flow to and from the brain by an ischemic mechanism, causing mechanical suffocation, with irreversible anoxia and death ”, it was affirmed in the analysis of the first stage of the autopsy.

Claudio Maley, Minister of Security of Tucumán, defended the actions of the members of the Force: “ The police procedure was correct , it was opportune; They detained him under the techniques of reducing international standards. ” He also stated that they would look for the images of the security cameras in the area, but so far they are not included in the criminal case.

What would confirm or rule out whether he died of suffocation or not is the pathological study. The autopsy was performed on June 25. The final results usually take between three and five days. In this case, they are 28 days late .

For this reason, Nadal's family filed a criminal complaint with the Prosecutor's Office specialized in Homicides No. 1 for "Impediment to Access to Justice", and requested a counter-test, if necessary. The family believes the long-awaited information would be released before Monday.

So far there is not a single police officer charged , of the six who surrounded him and observe in the videos that went viral (in them you can also see officers hitting him at least one kick at the level of the stomach and a blow to the back) . They all belong to the 1st police station. They could be in the event that Nadal is confirmed to have died of suffocation, and the title case is changed.

The police version, still unconfirmed, is that Nadal had stolen a hat and a pair of gloves from a store, and that he died of decompensation while fleeing. The event occurred between 10 and 12 on June 24, in the center of Tucumán. The owner of the premises declared not having seen him.

Nadal was an old acquaintance of the police at the 1st police station in Tucumán. On February 27, he had appeared at the "Special Prosecutor's Office for Complex Crimes of the Second Denomination." He declared and denounced them before the Justice, in a case that was labeled "illegal constraints".

According to his testimony, he had been beaten of all kinds in one of the sectional cells, after being detained while waiting to meet his wife.
