The time limit for the Chinese Consulate General in Houston to be shut down by the United States has expired. The local law enforcement agency subsequently took over the building. The US State Department stated on July 24 that the consulate was suspected of stealing information about the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Vaccine’s intelligence describes that the opponent’s actions have exceeded the tolerable bottom line.

The closing order expired at 4 p.m. local time on the 24th. The embassy staff left a few minutes before the deadline. After that, a number of people believed to be American personnel arrived to replace the building with new locks, and then broke in through the back door with powerful tools. After they entered the building, U.S. Department of Foreign Security personnel stood guard at the door.

Reuters quoted a report from a senior U.S. State Department who alleged that the museum's alleged espionage was to find a vaccine for the Chinese government for the new coronavirus. He said that China has always made it clear that it wants to be the first country to successfully launch a vaccine.

The Consulate General in Houston is close to the world's largest medical-related facilities, and nearby universities are also developing a vaccine against COVID-19. The senior official believes that it is not difficult to draw a medical connection between the two.

Senior officials of the US Department of Justice revealed that all countries acquiesce in consulate personnel of other countries to collect intelligence, but believe that the total amount of intelligence work of the Houston Consulate exceeds the bottom line acceptable to Washington. Therefore, to a certain extent, it will be intolerable and find the stronghold of the most serious crime.

The senior official also pointed out that even if the relevant action violates the law, the person involved may be unable to bring it to justice because the consulate enjoys diplomatic immunity.
