Since the first quarter, " the city of Plancoët has been particularly affected by several nocturnal fires which have created a climate of insecurity for the population ", indicate the gendarmes in a press release.
The alleged arsonist caused, for example, fires in hedges, garbage cans, and residential annexes. He also attempted to set fire to an electrical transformer. In all, sixteen fires were identified and contained in the city center of Plancoët, a town of 3,000 inhabitants.
To find the perpetrator, a working group was created by the Dinan gendarmerie company, under the authority of the Saint-Malo judicial court. A suspect was taken into police custody on Tuesday and then indicted and remanded in custody, said the gendarmes.
