A prison guard serving at Zalmon Prison was locked in a cell over the weekend along with two criminal inmates for about an hour after the cell door was locked behind her.

Yesterday (Saturday), around four-thirty in the morning, one of the prisoners reported that he was not feeling well. The warden hurried to his cell - without the keys to the cell and the walkie-talkie on it. At one point, the cell door slammed shut and locked behind her. 

According to sources at the IPS, after the warden did not answer the walkie-talkie, an hour later the other guards located her and opened the cell where she was staying. According to the same sources, "at that time she was treating a prisoner who was not feeling well."

The IPS said: "A warden responded quickly to calls for help from one of the wards, around 04:30, from a cell where two inmates, one of whom has a cardiological medical background, are staying. The warden ran to the cell and identified a prisoner from unconsciousness - and immediately began performing operations to check his condition. The prisoner slowly began to recover and regain consciousness. While assisting the inmate, the warden noticed that the cell door slammed shut behind her and the walkie-talkie was left in the sentry position. A team of guards was sent to the wing after the warden did not respond to a contact check and opened the cell. Along with the prisoner's quick response to assist the prisoner, the incident will be investigated by the prison commander for the purpose of drawing lessons and refining procedures. "
