The head of the Hamas Politburo, Ismail Haniyeh, said today (Monday) that as part of discussions to promote US President Donald Trump's peace plan, the organization flatly rejected a $ 15 billion bid for disarmament.

In an interview with the Qatari media, the Hamas leader confirmed that the Palestinians had been offered to build an airport in Gaza - in return, the organization demanded that Gaza operate a terminal that would operate in cooperation with Cyprus to import and export goods from the Strip. He said that Arab and Palestinian Authority officials had thwarted Hamas' demand for a marina in Gaza.

Assistance to the Strip, in the form of economic projects, was to include the construction of an airport and a seaport. In return, Hamas had to agree to hand over the long-range rockets in its possession and to those of other organizations in the Gaza Strip, disarm arms of all terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip, and integrate the Palestinian military factions armed in the Gaza Strip into Palestinian Authority security forces.

Haniyeh also said that during the discussions against the background of the recent rounds in Gaza, Hamas asked Israel to establish an airport or a sea crossing from the Gaza Strip to Cyprus. He also said that elements outside Israel, including Arab states and elements in the Palestinian Authority, had thwarted the move, claiming that it would lead to the splitting of the West Bank from the Gaza Strip.
