About two months after his mother died following a collision on a high-voltage line, the orphaned chick that was left next to his devoted father and received his food using a skimmer - a flower from the nest • Exciting documentation

Against all odds - the orphaned eagle chick from the "Live Raptors" project flowered yesterday (Sunday) from the nest. The joyous event occurred 136 days after it hatched from the swamp in front of the cameras, thanks to a skimmer and a widowed and devoted father. "It did happen a little late, after two weeks full of restlessness, excitement and frequent flight training - the chick gathered courage and flourished successfully from the nest," said Dr. Gilad Friedman, director of the "Live Raptors" project.

This is the long "flowering period" of the eagles, during which the father and a special feeding glider continue to feed the fresh chick, which is still under many dangers due to its lack of experience in safe flight. Lack of experience in getting to the feeding areas, along with injuries and fractures due to poor flight - are his lot at the moment. "All we have left is to wish the fresh flower great success and to exercise caution in whatever it takes," Dr. Friedman added.

The "Live Raptors" project was launched in collaboration between the Nature and Parks Authority, the Society for the Protection of Nature, the Heritage Foundation, the Dokifat Foundation, the Electric Company and the "Spreading Wing" project. The project reveals through online cameras that broadcast 24/7 the hidden world of the great and mysterious predators that nest in Israel.

In the case of the Eagles' Nest, many viewers experienced together with the young family the tragic death of the mother, due to her collision with a high voltage line, about two months ago. It was then decided to provide the chick with food by a special skimmer that carries the meals into the nest, using special technology. The food that came from the Negev Zoo was enriched with vitamins and supplements provided by the breeding nucleus for eagles of the "Spreading Wing" project.

"The eagle is another future addition to the endangered eagle population and is at a critical stage for its continued existence, and hence the future of the species in the Middle East," said Ohad Hatzofe, a poultry ecologist at the Nature and Parks Authority. "This is the first time we have been able to bring to fruition a chick that has lost one of its parents because of man, without having to take him out of his natural environment, an intervention that reduces his chances of surviving in the wild."

Dan Alon, director of the Israeli Birding Center of the Society for the Protection of Nature, concluded: "The chick that bloomed is a symbol of the uncompromising struggle for the conservation of eagles in Israel. It does not guarantee it a long life, but it successfully completed the first and difficult phase. His flag is to protect the eagles and predators in Israel and this story illustrates how far we will go to protect our eagles. "
