Judicial reform: for 47.2%, it is "to save Cristina Kirchner from her causes of corruption"

This is shown by a study that contains another uncomfortable question for Alberto Fernández: does he or she have more power?

Somehow, the concept was installed by one of the main targets, the Supreme Court of the Nation. Clarín told days ago that in the Supreme Court they believe that the entire Kirchnerist judicial advance, including an expansion of that body, hides a specific objective: that Cristina Kirchner get rid of her complicated front due to corruption. That same idea comes up in a new national survey, known hours after the project was announced.

The study, which was exclusively accessed by this newspaper, is by RDT Consultores , a pioneer in network measurements. This is a national survey of 2,155 cases, digitally surveyed between Monday and Wednesday of this week, with a margin of error of +/- 3.8%.

The firm asked: " Some consider that the Judicial Reform that the Government of Alberto Fernández wants to carry out,it is to "improve the quality of Justice", others believe it is to "save Cristina Kirchner from her corruption cases". What is your opinion? " The second variant won, with 47.2%, against 35.5% of the first. It completed 17.3% of" does not know ".

Martha Reale , director of the consultancy, digs deeper with a piece of information. Among those who believe that the reform is to help the vice president "there is 15% of the electorate of the Front of All." That is, in some way, it is an idea that breaks the crack. Or at least it shows a crack.

The analyst reveals another strong trend change in the Alberto-Cristina relationship. The firm has been asking since May "who do you think has more power?" . And the numbers of the former president grow: "The empowered image of the President held at the beginning of the quarantine, has been diluted as the perception of influence of Cristina Kirchner has grown in government decisions. Today, the 52% of Argentines maintain that the vice president has more or equal power than Alberto Fernández –30.2% believe that he has more and 21.7% the same level of interference as the President–, against 42.2% who think that only Alberto Fernández houses the sum of power. At the beginning of June, said representation reached 57% of the respondents. "

Also in the RDT poll, the image of the President and the management is confirmed. "The approval of Alberto Fernández's management fell almost 15 points in the last 45 days . Currently it is 60%, against 74.9% registered at the beginning of June. The study data shows that the bad mood generated by the extension of the quarantine and its derivations, added to initiatives such as a judicial reform - perceived as a tailored suit to resolve the judicial problems of the former president - have been undermining the record levels of adherence that the President was able to achieve, as a result of his first decisions about the pandemic, "says Reale.

What other studies say

One of the consultants close to Kircherismo also recently evaluated the impact of a possible judicial reform. It is Analogías , the firm that officially worked for Cristina's campaign in 2017 and that today measures (among others) for the Buenos Aires government.

In his case, with 2,902 respondents across the country, he asked a more global question: "Do you believe that a reform of the Judiciary is necessary to improve the justice service?" . The 77.3% said yes, between "long" and "pretty".

Those who oppose the changes proposed by Kirchnerism warn on one point: the current reform aims at federal courts linked to corruption issues, basically , and not at the service of justice in general, as the common citizens can claim.

The loss of prestige of Justice, in any case, is undoubted and has been growing in recent years. It even surpasses in other studies the other powers of the State. The University of San Andrés makes a monthly survey where it passes through the filter of public opinion. In the last work, 1,010 cases in July-, the Supreme Court was at the bottom of the table : 53% were "very dissatisfied" with their performance and 24% "dissatisfied".

The question, again, is whether the changes brought about by the ruling party will serve to twist this trend or rather to deepen it.
