Does the ban on heated terraces endanger restaurants?

After more than two months of closure imposed by the Covid-19, the profession is fragile. The measure went badly and worried, especially since the terraces are a key element of the recovery.


THE CHEKING PROCESS. From spring 2021, public terraces can no longer be heated. This is one of the first measures resulting from the citizens' convention for the climate, announced on July 27 by the minister for ecological transition, Barbara Pompili. MEP Thierry Mariani (National Gathering) deemed the measure "suicidal and irresponsible" . He believes that it will precipitate the establishments to their doom: "while many cafes and restaurants are on the verge of bankruptcy after confinement, the ban on heated terraces is the best way to make them go bankrupt even faster! " .
