Hülkenberg will not take the start

Hard blow for Nico Hülkenberg. The replacement for Sergio Pérez, affected by the Covid-19, had a mechanical problem with his Racing Point!

CONFIRMED: @HulkHulkenberg will not take the start of the #BritishGP after an issue was discovered with his car leaving the garage to head to the grid. 😢

What return for Hülkenberg?

Called in disaster to replace Sergio Pérez, tested positive for Covid-19, Nico Külkenberg is making his comeback in F1, seven months after his last grand prix with Renault in Abu Dhabi. Qualified in the 7th row, the German is aiming for points at the wheel of a Racing Point that has performed very well this season and is strongly inspired by the 2019 Mercedes.

Drivers' words (after qualifying)

Lewis Hamilton (GBR / Mercedes), pole position: “I don't know the records and I don't watch them. But it's still an incredible performance and it's one of the most beautiful slopes in the world. Especially when the wind is blowing like today and the temperature is perfect, the speed that you can have in certain turns like Maggots and Becketts is incredible, you can push the limits.

ValtteriBottas (FIN / Mercedes) 2nd: “Lewis did a lap that was close to perfect and I couldn't compete. I'm obviously disappointed to be second even though it was a good session. It's tomorrow that counts and the car is very good ”.

MaxVerstappen (NED / Red Bull) 3rd: “I'm not surprised by the gap with Lewis. Overall our car is good and there wasn't much else I could do. It's a big gap but we're trying to do the best we can. I hope for a good start tomorrow and I will try to follow them ”.

Verstappen equals ... his father

In difficulty at the start of the season, Max Verstappen takes the start of his 106th grand prix this Sunday in England. That is the number of races made by his father Jos during his career. Remember that the son has already won 8 races in his career while the father has only managed two podiums in eight seasons.

Where are the French at?

Esteban Ocon had a good performance in qualifying on Saturday and will start from the 5th row, just behind his Renault teammate Daniel Ricciardo. Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri) will start in 6th row and Romain Grosjean (Haas) in 17th position.

Mercedes aims for another double

Hamilton's biggest enemy on the track will undoubtedly be once again Valtteri Bottas, his Mercedes teammate. The Finn, winner of the inaugural grand prix in Austria, will start in 2nd position. The second row will be composed of Max Verstappen (Red Bull) and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari). The Monegasque shone in qualifying despite a single-seater far from being able to titillate Mercedes.

Hamilton still untouchable?

Winner of two of the first three grand prix of the season, Lewis Hamilton will again be the big favorite of this race at Silverstone. The six-time world champion took the 91st pole position of his career on Saturday.
