It was suspected that the electrical equipment in the sub-house was short-circuited and the grounding equipment in the house did not comply with relevant regulations. Tragedy. In its reply last night (August 2), the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department stated that after preliminary investigations, it was suspected that the cause of the accident involved a short-circuit failure of the electrical installation in a sub-district unit; and the grounding installation in the house did not comply with relevant regulations. , Causing someone to be electrocuted. Initially, the accident was not caused by the electric water heater in the unit.

The Department has issued an improvement notice to the owners, requesting the owners to hire a registered electrical contractor to inspect, repair and improve the fixed electrical installations of the relevant units before the electricity supply can be restored. At the same time, the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department will continue to conduct in-depth investigations. The Electricity Ordinance and its subsidiary regulations will take appropriate enforcement actions.

The incident occurred at 5 pm the day before yesterday. A woman surnamed Wu (36 years old) was suspected of being electrocuted while taking a bath in the sub-house of Huayuan Building, Fa Yuen Street, Mong Kok. Her husband went home and reported the incident to the police. The victim was confirmed dead at the scene.
