The horn hides 620,000 illicit cigarettes and customs detains male truck driver

Yesterday (4th) Customs seized about 620,000 suspected illicit cigarettes at Shenzhen Bay Control Point, with an estimated market value of about 1.7 million yuan and a taxable value of about 1.2 million yuan. Yesterday, the customs intercepted and searched an incoming truck reported to be carrying groceries at the Shenzhen Bay Control Point. The illicit cigarettes were found in 516 speakers in 86 cartons and mixed with other goods on the truck. Customs arrested the 41-year-old male driver and detained the truck for investigation. The case is still under investigation. According to the customs, smuggling is a serious crime. According to the Import and Export Regulations, anyone who imports or exports unmanifested cargo is liable to a maximum fine of 2 million yuan and imprisonment for 7 years upon conviction.
