Coronavirus: several Once stores opened in protest because they still do not have permission

The Eleven shops closest to the Sarmiento train station are not open to the public. And although on Monday they were allowed to sell with the delivery method (customers can go to the store to pick up the merchandise they buy online), there were several that this Thursday decided to open in protest.

The merchants summoned themselves and raised the blinds. In the recova area, in front of the railway station, there were several that decided to open after almost 140 days. "We have very high rents , salaries and utility costs. These are costs that we can no longer afford. We do not have any help and we already use all the savings."  

On Monday, at the start of the ninth stage of the quarantine that began on March 20, the City allowed the opening of some 19,000 shops on high-traffic avenues.

It was the culmination of the first of the six stages of the plan to return to the new "normality" announced by the Buenos Aires Government. The idea was to start the second one on Monday, but the numbers are on the rise and the political decision taken jointly by the head of government, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, President Alberto Fernández and the governor, Axel Kicillof.

With the Monday openings, the City assures that 95% of the shops are open. And on Tuesday, in the Official Gazette, a resolution from the Ministry of Economic Development was published, in which the locals from the areas of Once, Retiro, Constitución, Liniers and Avellaneda Avenue were empowered to use delivery so that customers can receive in the place the products they bought online.

The areas to which the Buenos Aires Government resolution refers are: 

  • Eleven : in the sector between Av. Rivadavia, Boulogne Sur Mer, Lavalle and Larrea.
  • Av. Avellaneda , between Bahía Blanca and Terrada.
  • Transfer Station Stations Retreat of Miter, Belgrano Norte and San Martín railways: between Av. Dr. José M. Ramos Mejía between Av. Del Libertador and Av. Antártida Argentina.
  • Transfer station Plaza Plaza station of the Roca railway. In the sector comprised of East Lima, Brazil, Lima, O'Brien, Santiago del Estero and Constitución.
  • Transfer Station Plaza Once Station of the Sarmiento railway. In the sector comprised by Av. Jujuy, Hipólito Yrigoyen, Gral. Urquiza, Bartolomé Miter and Av. Pueyrredón.
  • Transfers Center Liniers Station of the Sarmiento railway. In Av. Rivadavia between Timoteo Gordillo and Av. General Paz.

Buenos Aires Government sources assured that throughout all the quarantine periods, there was "high compliance" with the regulations established by the authorities. They count 46 closings for violating the quarantine.

In the area of ​​Once also manteros began to be seen and for that reason the operations in charge of the Government Control Agency (AGC) were reinforced. 

The reopening of shops in areas that are not yet enabled is scheduled for the fourth of the six stages proposed by the City. As the second stage has not yet started, times are lengthening and merchants assure that they open because they need to "work so as not to close."
