According to testimony received by the Commission for the Audit of the State Attorney's Office, the then State Attorney, Shai Nitzan, updated the Commissioner of Police, Danino, whose name came up in an undercover investigation by DIP.

The Commission for the Audit of the State Attorney's Office is investigating whether Shai Nitzan has informed Commissioner Danino that his name appears in an undercover investigation, Joshua Breiner reported this evening in Haaretz.

A number of testimonies reached the Public Complaints Commissioner, David Rosen, according to which the former State Attorney told the then Commissioner in 2015, Yohanan Danino, that his name came up in an undercover investigation and that it was recorded by one involved in another investigation. Check his involvement in that investigation.

That same year, DIP conducted an investigation into those involved in the case, and during the investigation, the name of Danino and another senior police officer emerged as someone who might be linked to a breach of trust offense. DIP believed that these suspicions rose to a level that required investigation. A significant proceeding has been opened against the other two involved, and recently the police have decided to retaliate.

Following this, in the middle of that year, Nitzan held a hearing in his office with the participation of senior members of the State Attorney's Office, where DIP officials presented the findings of the investigation, which was still covert. In doing so, he added that "your name also came up," thus thwarting the continuation of the investigation into his case. At that meeting, Nitzan ordered that the findings be placed in a safe and in fact stop investigating the suspicions against the commissioner.

Those present at the meeting testified to Rosen that this behavior surprised them and led to the thwarting of any possibility of an investigation against Danino. "This is an act he will not do," Haaretz wrote on behalf of one of those involved. "He finished the story."

Half a year later, Danino's name came up again in another case, which necessitated the collection of testimony from Danino. Evidence obtained by the commission shows that Nitzan instructed DIP officials to tell Danino in advance that there was a recording of him talking to one of those involved in the case.
