The Supreme Court confirmed the sentence to four years in prison for the piquetero leader Luis D'Elía, who is currently serving at home for coronavirus. He was convicted of taking over a police station in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of La Boca in 2004.
In this way, the highest court rejected an appeal filed by D'Elía's defense and confirmed the penalties of four years in prison and special disqualification for the term of eight years for the exercise of public office.
Justice considered him the author of the crimes of "aggravated attack on authority, minor injuries committed to the detriment of a member of the security forces, instigation to commit crimes, illegal deprivation of liberty and usurpation, in an ideal contest", during the take from the police station.
