Latin America and the Caribbean became on Friday August 7 the region of the world most affected in terms of death toll from the new coronavirus, according to an AFP count from official data.

With at least 213,120 deaths, this region exceeds Europe, which accounts for 212,660 deaths, according to a report established at 19 hours French. The two regions concentrate 6 deaths out of 10 recorded in the world.
In the past seven days, 44% of the world's deaths have been recorded in Latin America and the Caribbean (around 18,300 for a total of 41,500). The region is also the one with the most cases of infection, with more than 5.3 million infections, mostly in Brazil (2.9 million cases, nearly 100,000 deaths).
