The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that the agreement between the "Qasd militia" and an American company to steal Syrian oil is a continuation of Washington's violations of the rules of international law and Syria's sovereignty over its territory.
In a statement published on its website, the State Department indicated that the US side intends, in addition, within the framework of the agreement, to "provide two mobile oil refineries, as they claim, to reduce the damage to the surrounding environment due to the oil spill and its derivatives."
The statement added, "We believe that the talk is about repeated violations by Washington of the rules of international law and international humanitarian law and its obligations as an occupying state ... and more than that, the American administration once again expresses its disdain for the United Nations Charter and the resolutions of the Security Council and the General Assembly of the United Nations that stipulate Firm respect for the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic, a member of the United Nations.
The statement continued, "The Americans are not limited to their illegal occupation of areas in Syria, but also participate in the theft and plunder of their natural resources and their trade, noting that these resources belong to the entire Syrian people," noting that all of this "is taking place against the backdrop of the periodic tightening of unilateral sanctions taken by way of Behind the back of the UN Security Council, from which areas that are not under the control of the Syrian government are exempted from the show .. It is known that the sanctions impede the supply of fuel and electricity to the Syrians and create a deficit in energy resources, not to mention that they prevent the arrival of vital medicines and medical equipment in the circumstances of the Corona pandemic.
The statement pointed out that “oil derivatives extracted in the eastern Euphrates region and incomes received from illegally trafficking in them never go to the inhabitants of this Syrian region .. Also, the media and analysis centers always publish information about the protests of citizens there against the illegal presence of the United States and the arbitrariness of the militia. (QSD) which is not concerned with the conditions of life of the civilian population. At the same time, the United States’s line of artificially strengthening this militia is not limited to provoking internal tension, but also creates grave dangers to regional security and stability.
The statement expressed Russia’s great concern and regret about these arbitrary and contradictory acts, as well as the lack of the necessary response by the international community towards them.
Syria condemned in the strongest terms the agreement signed between the "Qasd militia" and an American oil company for stealing Syrian oil, stressing that it considers it null and void and has no legal effect.
